Community Support Worker

An Opportunity is opening up for the post of Community Support or Youth Worker around the London Borough of Barnet/Brent/Ealing/Harrow /Hillingdon/Hounslow/Brent and many more London Borough areas. The exact locations for this position are Mill Hill near Edgware and Hendon in Barnet, Sudbury Hill in Wembley, Harrow .

We receive referrals from all the Councils in London and especially from North West London for Supported Living (18\-65\) or Semi Independent Living {now Supported Accommodation (18\+ only)}. Our clients/residents shall be a mix of young adults, males and females coming out of care preparing for move\-on into independence, some may be young adults with mild mental health issues, mild learning difficulties, drugs \& alcohol issues, refugees, those fleeing domestic violence, etc.

However, our most recent Residents were just Young Adults (18\+) with minor issues that need support to progress into independent living.

The job description basically involves staff to provide Support (not Care) for the acquisition/improvement of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills such as: cooking, washing up, budgeting, cleaning, shopping, personal hygiene, laundry, diet, medication management support (if required), attending appointments, rent/service charge payment (where necessary), form filling, following up correspondence, benefits claims (e.g. Housing Benefits), supporting with education/training, support with Universal Credits, etc.

Therefore, the successful applicant is expected to have some experience of working with these client group as Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker or Youth Worker with relevant training, skills, education and experiences. We shall also provide our own training (especially some compulsory in\-house or online training).

We shall provide induction/Onboarding and training for the successful candidate. It is essential for the candidate to have trained (or willing to train) up to at least NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care or equivalent fields and higher qualifications desirable.

Successful applicant shall work with the Services Manager and Operations Manager to support the residents/clients on a rota system. The staff may be involved in our on\-call service too.

The type of support given is person\-centred to meet identified needs of the individual resident. No two persons have the same support needs. These needs are stated in the individual resident's/client's Support/Care Plan that the Community Support or Youth Worker or Key Worker uses as guide for effective and successful service delivery. The role involves some commuting around hubs/cluster of projects/schemes as the case may be and we are constantly adding more projects. So the applicant should be ready to be flexible.

Also, the candidate MUST RESIDE AROUND THE NORTHWEST LONDON AREA ESPECIALLY in or around BARNET/BRENT (Mill Hill, Edgware, Hendon, High Barnet, Stanmore, Elstree, Borehamwood, etc), Sudbury, Greenford, Wembley, HARROW, WATFORD and part of North London. *We have employed many people who do not live local and left as a result of distance. We want to avoid this.*

Successful candidates shall be subject to enhanced DBS checks and 2\-3 References.

Salary: £12\.71\-£13\.25 per hour depending on relevant qualifications, experience and job type/pattern. Also subject to 3\-6 months Probation period.
