Purpose

Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. We support people across Manchester by empowering healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

The purpose of this role is to work across CITC’s primary school programme, supporting delivery and development of CITC’s primary school provision. The Schools Lead Coach will be responsible for supporting the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the primary school programme and is expected to develop and maintain relationships with partner organisations. A focus will be placed on supporting the primary school’s team in both the planning and delivery of the Premier League Primary Stars programme KPI’s and Primary Schools programme KPI’s.

Accountabilities

  • Lead delivery on CITC’s primary school programme, engaging participants aged 5\-11 years old and school teaching staff in inclusive, educational, and enjoyable lessons – ensuring all aspects of delivery, monitoring and evaluation and safeguarding are of the highest standards.

  • Work in partnership with the Primary School Officers and partner schools to develop the Primary Schools programme to ensure it meets partner school needs, programme outputs and outcomes, and further the programmes reach. Being accountable for progress and reporting on set KPIs and outcomes associated with the Primary Schools programme to develop, maintain and grow a strong working relationship with partner schools.

  • Support programme officers in collecting feedback associated with the programme to ensure programme quality and development, maintain and grow a strong working relationship with programme partners including the Premier League Charitable Fund and partner schools.

  • Regularly review individual performance within the team to assess, identify and provide training and CPD opportunities which continuously improves the standard of delivery on the programmes.

  • Work in partnership with the Primary School Officers to plan and deliver high\-quality events and competitions both in\-schools and at the CFA/external venues in support of the Primary Schools programme.

  • Ensure that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.

  • Ensure that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team, escalating any breaches as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum NGB Level 2 Coaching Certificate in any sport (excluding dodgeball)

  • A\-C GCSE or equivalent in maths and English

  • Experience of delivering in a school setting and working towards the national curriculum.

  • Experience of planning and delivering high quality coaching/education sessions which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.

  • Knowledge of the primary school National Curriculum and Premier League Primary Stars programme

  • Experience of leading/coordinating community programmes and achieving associated KPI’s and outcomes

  • Experience of working with teachers on their professional development and delivering teacher CPD workshops

  • Experience of delivery in a classroom environment

  • Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects

  • Competent across Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement

  • Resilient and adaptable to change

  • Excellent and inclusive team\-working abilities

  • Full driving licence
Desirable
  • Coaching qualifications in other relevant sports, specifically Level 2 multi\-skills

  • L3 Certificate in Supporting PE and School Sport

  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club

  • Professional and adaptable presentation skills to a variety of audiences

  • Experience of delivering technical training and CPD for team members and other professionals

  • In\-depth understanding of community\-based programmes and their purpose and impact

  • Experience of supporting other coaches to develop

  • Degree level education

  • Experience of building relationships with external organisations and maintaining internal partnerships.

  • Experience of strong behaviour management.
Job Types: Full\-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
