LUNEX is a young and ambitious University of Applied Sciences in Luxembourg attracting students from Europe and beyond and offering high\-quality and innovative teaching and learning in higher education and research.

We are expanding our team and are looking to recruit a strategic and hands\-on Communication Team Lead who will play a key role in strengthening LUNEX’s institutional voice, internal communication, media relations, stakeholder engagement and reputation.

Role Overview

The Communication Team Lead is responsible for LUNEX’s local institutional and internal communication, media and public relations, corporate content, stakeholder communication and reputation management.

Working within the Group communication strategy and framework, the role translates LUNEX’s institutional priorities into effective local communication plans and ensures a coherent institutional voice across audiences and channels. The role works closely with Marketing, which owns demand generation, recruitment marketing, promotional campaigns and marketing performance.

Key Responsibilities

Communication Planning \& Prioritisation

  • Develop and implement LUNEX’s annual communication plan within the Group communication strategy and framework, reflecting institutional objectives, values and strategic priorities,

  • Contribute local institutional insight and requirements to Group communication strategy, standards and initiatives,

  • Translate strategic priorities into editorial priorities, channel plans, communication activities and measurable objectives,

  • Prioritise activities, allocate local resources effectively and ensure timely delivery of communication projects,

  • Act as the main local point of contact for communication matters and advise LUNEX management and internal stakeholders on messaging and communication approaches within the agreed communication framework,

  • Coordinate team members, interns, agencies, copywriters, designers, translators and other service providers.
Media Relations \& Public Relations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, media, relevant professional networks and other appropriate external stakeholders,

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, briefing notes and other press materials,

  • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, media appearances and spokesperson preparation,

  • Monitor media coverage and stakeholder perceptions and identify emerging communication or reputational issues,

  • Maintain appropriate media lists and press\-contact records in accordance with data\-protection requirements,

  • Coordinate relevant media and PR activities with the Group Communication function where appropriate.
Institutional \& Internal Communication
  • Develop and implement internal communication plans to keep staff and faculty appropriately informed, aligned and engaged,

  • Draft and coordinate internal announcements, newsletters, leadership communications and organisational updates,

  • Support change communication relating to institutional initiatives and organisational developments,

  • Ensure consistency of institutional messaging, tone of voice and key messages across internal channels,

  • Support LUNEX management in communicating significant institutional decisions and developments.
Editorial \& Corporate Content
  • Oversee institutional publications and high\-level corporate content, including annual and recurring institutional reports, speeches, official statements, news articles and corporate narratives.

  • Ensure editorial quality, accuracy, tone of voice and consistency with institutional and Group communication standards.

  • Coordinate translation and adaptation of content for different languages, audiences and stakeholders,

  • Brief and manage external copywriters, translators, designers and agencies where specialist expertise is required,

  • Work with Marketing to ensure promotional and campaign content remains consistent with LUNEX’s institutional voice, brand and reputation.
Reputation \& Sensitive Communication
  • Monitor LUNEX’s institutional reputation across relevant media and public channels and identify emerging communication risks,

  • Advise relevant LUNEX decision\-makers on the communication implications of sensitive institutional matters,

  • Maintain local crisis\-communication readiness, including appropriate protocols, templates and approval workflows, within the Group communication and escalation framework,

  • In coordination with LUNEX management and Group Communication, prepare statements, briefing materials and communication responses for sensitive or high\-profile situations,

  • Ensure appropriate escalation of significant reputational or communication risks.
Events \& Stakeholder Communication
  • Lead communication planning for institutional events, official ceremonies, press events, partnership announcements and graduation,

  • Coordinate press\-facing and institutional communication at Open Days, conferences, official visits and other high\-profile events,

  • Develop appropriate communication approaches for key stakeholder groups, including students, staff, academic partners, media, public authorities and institutional partners,

  • Work with Marketing where events also serve promotional or recruitment objectives, with Marketing leading promotional campaigns and lead\-generation activities.
Communication Performance \& Insight
  • Define appropriate communication KPIs, including media reach, message penetration, audience engagement, reputation indicators and stakeholder feedback,

  • Monitor communication performance and analyse media, channel and stakeholder feedback to improve communication approaches,

  • Provide management with relevant insight into emerging communication, stakeholder and reputational issues,

  • Prepare regular reporting on communication activities, results, risks and priorities.
Team Leadership \& Collaboration
  • Lead and manage the day\-to\-day work of the Communication team, including workload allocation, objective setting, feedback, coaching and professional development,

  • Ensure effective use of internal resources and external expertise and maintain clear accountability for communication delivery,

  • Build effective relationships with LUNEX management, academic and administrative staff, Group Communication, external partners, media and service providers,

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing while maintaining clear ownership of institutional messaging, corporate communication, media relations and reputation,

  • Participate in Group communication initiatives, share local insight and good practices, and implement agreed Group standards and frameworks.
Required Skills \& Qualifications

Education \& Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in corporate or institutional communication, public relations or media.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing team members, setting priorities and managing complex communication projects and external providers.

  • Experience in higher education, research, public institutions, professional services or an international environment is an advantage.
Communication \& Professional Competencies
  • Excellent writing, editing and editorial judgement, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences, channels and levels of sensitivity,

  • Proven experience in media relations, press\-office activities and spokesperson support,

  • Experience developing and implementing institutional and internal communication plans,

  • Strong understanding of stakeholder and reputation management,

  • Experience handling sensitive, crisis or reputation\-related communication is a strong advantage,

  • Ability to interpret media data, stakeholder feedback and reputation signals and translate them into practical recommendations,

  • Good understanding of GDPR principles relevant to communication activities,

  • Proficiency with relevant CMS, media\-monitoring, newsletter/email and publishing tools.

  • Strong people\-leadership, organisational and project\-management skills,

  • Sound judgement, discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters appropriately,

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and advisory skills, including confidence working with senior leadership and external stakeholders,

  • Ability to balance institutional interests, stakeholder expectations and communication risks,

  • Ability to take ownership and make sound operational decisions within an agreed strategic and governance framework,

  • Flexible, hands\-on and comfortable working in a fast\-paced and evolving environment.
Language Skills
  • Excellent proficiency in English and French, spoken and written.

  • Knowledge of Luxembourgish or German is considered an advantage.
