About the Opportunity
An established and growing financial services organisation is seeking an ambitious Commercial Property Underwriter \& Business Development Specialist to join its expanding team in Harrow. This is a unique opportunity for an insurance professional who combines strong underwriting expertise with a commercial mindset and enjoys building relationships across the property, finance, and professional services sectors. You will play a key role in assessing commercial property risks, developing new business opportunities, and growing relationships with brokers, developers, investors, landlords, and property professionals
Key Responsibilities
Assess and underwrite commercial property insurance risks in line with company guidelines.
Review and analyse proposals, valuations, surveys, and supporting documentation.
Price risks appropriately while maintaining profitability and underwriting standards.
Build and maintain relationships with brokers, introducers, property professionals, and key stakeholders.
Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, events, and targeted outreach.
Identify opportunities to cross\-sell and upsell insurance solutions.
Negotiate terms, premiums, and policy conditions.
Manage renewals and retention activities across existing accounts.
Maintain accurate records within CRM and underwriting systems.
Work closely with senior management to support business growth objectives.
Required Experience
Previous experience as a Commercial Property Underwriter, Commercial Insurance Broker, Property Insurance Specialist, or similar role.
Strong understanding of commercial property insurance products and risk assessment.
Experience dealing with landlords, investors, property developers, or commercial property portfolios.
Proven business development, sales, or account management experience..
Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.\#
Desirable Skills
Insurance qualifications (Cert CII, Dip CII, or equivalent).
Experience within commercial lending, bridging finance, or specialist property finance sectors.
Existing network within the commercial property market.
Experience using CRM and underwriting platforms.
