Salary: Open, plus bonuses, plus eventual ownership

This is not a role for a career accountant, analyst or cost-cutter, and it's not a retail, hospitality or warehouse operations role either. We're looking for someone with genuine drive and ambition, who wants to build something rather than simply manage figures, comfortable working outside the norms and bringing real energy to a small, ambitious business.

Our client is a CQC rated Outstanding home care agency based in Oxfordshire, providing domiciliary and live-in care across the county and surrounding areas. They were one of the first agencies in the county to achieve Outstanding across all five CQC categories, a distinction held by only a small percentage of care providers nationally, and have recently been recognised with industry awards for the standard of care they provide.

With a strong and growing team already in place, they're now looking for a Commercial Manager / Managing Director to take ownership of driving the business forward commercially. This is a rare opportunity to step into a business with a genuinely strong reputation and real headroom for growth, and to shape how it develops over the next phase.

The role

This is a commercially led leadership role, not a care delivery role. You'll take full ownership of the growth strategy and the figures, working closely with the owners to take on the day to day running of the business.

• Driving marketing and business development activity: website, SEO, Google Ads, literature and referral channels


• Working with existing marketing and content suppliers to build on momentum already in place


• Full P&L ownership, understanding where the money comes from and where it goes, and making the figures work


• Leading and managing the team and the wider care workforce


• Applying sound, common sense management to the day to day issues that come with running a growing service

You'll be focused on running and growing the business rather than delivering or managing care on the ground. A very competent team is already in place to do that.

About you

Above all, we're looking for that rare quality: spark. Someone genuinely different, driven and ambitious, who wants more from their career than a job that starts and ends at the office door. Not a box ticker, and not someone purely analytical who's comfortable managing figures and little else, we want someone hungry to build, grow and make their mark.

A finance, accounting or strong commercial background is genuinely useful here, understanding the numbers matters, but the mindset is what's important. We'd equally welcome someone from a marketing or broader commercial background who has that same appetite for growth. You do not need any background in the care sector, in fact we'd prefer it, we want someone who brings fresh thinking rather than preconceived ideas about how a care business should run.
