It certainly looks like gold has been struck once again, and his new business has got off to a flying start! It has partnered with several business introducers, who are generating a high volume of warm and qualified leads. Coupled with the new business endeavours of the MD, its growth trajectory has been nothing short of remarkable.
In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for the account handling and broking of a varied portfolio of risks. This includes preparing renewals, dealing with mid-term amendments, and answering any questions that clients may have. Given the volume of leads that are being ‘phoned’ into the office, a large part of this role will be the placing of new business, so you will be conducting a thorough fact find to establish the most suitable cover for your clients, and then broking the risks to secure them the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums.
Being a small team, your duties will be really varied – whether it be general admin or nipping to the shop for tea bags, everyone is expected to pitch in and do whatever is needed to make the business a success, and win and retain business whilst delivering a superb level of client service.
Clients will be from a wide range of industry sectors, although there is a bias towards new business enquires from construction / contracting and associated trades, as well as fleet-orientated risks. Clients can vary in size and complexity – although of course, you will not be asked to deal with cases that you have not dealt with the previously, until you have had sufficient training.
Alongside a good understanding of common commercial covers, it is essential that you have a ‘trader’s mentality’, with a sense of pace and urgency. You’ll also enjoy closing deals and pride yourself on remaining alert to opportunities to cross and up-sell. You must have excellent communication skills and pride yourself on your ability to swiftly build rapport with people from all walks of life.
Our client is based in pleasant offices with plenty of onsite parking, it is minutes’ walk New Pudsey Station, meaning it is a direct train from Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, amongst others. It’s also only several hundred meters from all the shops and amenities of the Owlcoates centre.
You will receive a generous basic salary that is entirely negotiable, but anticipated to be £30,000 - £40,000. You will also receive 10% bonus of all brokerage income that you place (including at renewal), even when warm leads are passed to you. As such, it entirely feasible that your 1st year’s earnings will handsomely exceed £50,000.
