Hours: 26\.5 hours per week (over 4 days)
Job Role:
The Coffee Shop Assistant \& Marketing role is a varied position that combines hospitality, customer service and marketing. You'll prepare and serve high\-quality food and drinks, create a warm and welcoming experience for customers, and support the promotion of our coffee shops and catering business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in hospitality, has a passion for food and great customer service, and is also creative. You'll help capture photographs, create engaging social media content, and contribute fresh ideas to promote and grow the business.
Duties \& Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Deliver friendly, welcoming and professional customer service at all times.
- Take customer orders accurately and process payments using the till system.
- Build positive relationships with customers and create a welcoming café atmosphere.
- Represent the values of Sugar Snap Kitchen and Rooted In in every customer interaction.
- Prepare and serve meals to a high standard
- Prepare and serve high\-quality coffee to Sugar Snap Kitchen standards
- Follow agreed recipes, food specifications, and portion controls to ensure consistency and quality
- Present food attractively, with a high level of attention to detail and consistency
- Maintain good product knowledge of all food and drink offerings
- Assist with menu development within an agreed budget, responding to customer feedback and contributing ideas for improvement
- Help develop and deliver the marketing strategy across our three coffee shop locations and corporate catering service.
- Create engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms.
- Photograph food, drinks, events and customers (where appropriate) to create promotional content.
- Design posters, digital displays and promotional material using software such as Canva (training available if required).
- Create content for TV screens, printed media, WhatsApp Communities, Slack channels and customer communications.
- Promote new menu items, seasonal offers, catering services and community events.
- Help tell the story of Sugar Snap Kitchen and Rooted In, demonstrating how customer purchases support our charitable work.
- Work with colleagues to ensure branding and communications are consistent across all locations.
- Monitor engagement and suggest new marketing ideas to help grow the business.
- Support the Coffee Shop Lead with daily operations
- Work collaboratively with team members to create a positive working environment
- Attend team meetings and training sessions as required
- Contribute ideas and feedback to help improve service and team working
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area throughout each shift
- Follow food hygiene, health \& safety, and allergen procedures at all times
- Work confidently and calmly in a fast\-paced environment
- Take part in training and learning opportunities
- Show a willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role
- Most importantly, enjoy your work, have fun, and be part of a supportive team
Essential
- A passion for delivering excellent customer service.
- Experience preparing food or working within hospitality.
- Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable.
- Good communication skills.
- Proficient in printed and digital communication platforms.
- Good written English and attention to detail.
- Creative with an eye for presentation and design.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised and proactive.
- Requires a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Previous café or hospitality experience.
- Barista experience (training can be provided).
- Experience creating content for Facebook and Instagram.
- Experience using Canva or similar design software.
- Basic photography or videography skills.
- An interest in marketing, communications or business development.
