We deliver pre\-hospital emergency response, patient transport, and event medical coverage to both NHS and private clients. We are now looking for an experienced and motivated clinical leader to join us as Clinical Team Manager.

THE ROLE

The Clinical Team Manager (CTM) is a senior clinical leadership position responsible for the governance, development, and operational clinical standards of the MES frontline team. The CTM holds overall accountability for clinical quality across the service and acts as the primary point of escalation for clinical matters. This is a hands\-on, hybrid role combining active clinical practice with management responsibility.

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £46,000 per annum (starting)

Contract: Permanent, Full\-Time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

NQP Programme and Workforce Development

\- Oversight and coordination of the Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) programme, ensuring full HCPC compliance and structured portfolio progression

\- Pairing NQPs with appropriate senior mentors and monitoring supervised hours at NQP1 and NQP2 stages

\- Conducting regular competency reviews, sign\-offs and progress meetings with NQPs

\- Conducting clinical rideouts to observe, assess and support frontline staff in live operational settings

\- Supporting clinicians at all grades with their continued professional development and career progression

Medicines Management and Drug Policy

\- Overall responsibility for the management and governance of the MES controlled drugs and medicines framework

\- Maintaining and updating drug policies in line with Schedule 17 and 19 Human Medicine Regulations 2021, JRCALC guidelines, and CQC requirements

\- Overseeing Patient Group Directions (PGDs) — including issuing, reviewing and ensuring staff competency

\- Conducting controlled drug audits and stock oversight; investigating and following up any medication incidents or discrepancies

\- Ensuring medicines bags are correctly stocked, sealed and documented at all times

Clinical Governance and Record Keeping

\- Maintaining accurate clinical records across the team, including supervision logs, appraisal records, training matrices and incident reports

\- Conducting monthly Patient Report Form (PRF) audits to ensure accuracy, clinical quality and contractual compliance

\- Leading on clinical incident reviews and significant event analyses, implementing lessons learned across the team

\- Ensuring all clinical documentation meets CQC regulatory standards

\- Maintaining oversight of HCPC registration status, DBS certificates and mandatory training compliance for all clinical staff

Monthly CPD and Training Delivery

\- Planning, organising and facilitating monthly CPD sessions for the entire frontline clinical team

\- Identifying training needs through clinical observation, PRF audits and staff feedback

\- Delivering evidence\-based, clinically relevant sessions covering clinical updates, pharmacology, safeguarding and simulation

\- Maintaining a CPD calendar and documenting attendance and learning outcomes

Operational and People Leadership

\- Providing on\-scene clinical support and leadership for complex or high\-acuity incidents

\- Undertaking annual appraisals for all clinical staff within your team

\- Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of new clinicians, including clinical assessments and induction programmes

\- Maintaining operational roster oversight and addressing clinical staffing gaps promptly

\- Acting as a key point of escalation for clinical queries and staff welfare concerns

\- Participating in on\-call arrangements to provide clinical management cover as required

\- Ensuring safe disposal of clinical waste, IPC compliance, and vehicle and equipment readiness at all operational bases

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

\- HCPC\-registered Paramedic with a minimum of 4 years' frontline emergency ambulance experience

\- Demonstrable experience in a supervisory, mentoring or clinical leadership capacity

\- Strong working knowledge of NQP frameworks, JRCALC guidelines and CQC regulatory requirements

\- Sound medicines management knowledge, including controlled drugs governance

\- Full UK driving licence (C1 or above) with emergency driving qualification

\- Enhanced DBS with barred list check for Adults and Children

\- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

\- Ability to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisions under pressure

Desirable:

\- IQI, IHCD Paramedic Instructor or equivalent clinical education qualification

\- Experience in the private ambulance or event medicine sector

\- Advanced clinical qualification such as CCP or Critical Care Paramedic

\- Experience with CQC inspections or registered manager responsibilities

This role attracts an on\-call supplement on top of the base salary. In addition, MES operates a busy and varied events portfolio throughout the year. This includes boxing events and a wide range of other sporting and public engagements. There are regular and plentiful opportunities for overtime working across these events, giving the successful candidate the ability to significantly increase their overall earnings.
