Clinical Psychologist
Who we are
Phoenix Psychology is a well\-established independent practice with two bases in the West Midlands. We provide therapeutic services including assessments, interventions, training, consultancy and supervision and we specialise in working with complex trauma presentations across the lifespan.
A guiding principle at Phoenix is the importance of relationships, with connection and compassion at the heart of this. We invest time and energy in the embodiment of these values. Working at Phoenix, you will experience support and room to develop professionally and personally. Always, but particularly in the current climate, we look to offer our team balanced and flexible work practices. In return, we hope that you will be invested in deeply understanding the needs and experiences of our clients and delivering and developing excellent and sustainable services. Phoenix are committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity, and practicing in ways that encourage reflection about the power and responsibilities we hold.
You will ideally have experience of working with children, adolescents and/or adults with complex trauma, with these needs potentially being expressed through a range of challenges, from an adopted child struggling to emotionally regulate themselves, to an adult with a chronic physical condition having to navigate lifelong health complications and services therein, to those engaging with or at risk of serious youth violence. You must have a good understanding of trauma, its impact and associated models of psychological intervention. The work will be varied and can be complex and challenging. Our small and friendly team support each other, and like everyone at Phoenix, we bring passion, commitment, and integrity to our work. The post will be working across a range of contracts many of which require working directly in, alongside and in partnership with a range of statutory and third sector organisations which does mean willingness to travel across the region is essential.
Within the service, we deliver a range of trauma focussed interventions, these include TF\-CBT, CFT, ACT and EMDR alongside Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Practice (DDP). Thus experience in at least one of these modalities is essential and we invest in additional training for our team members to support development. You will receive regular supervision via our experienced team, alongside specialist External Consultants for EMDR and DDP if applicable. Phoenix Psychology delivers interventions directly, via 1:1, family and group alongside indirectly through consultations and through systems. Therefore experience across these various delivery methods would be desirable. We would welcome someone with experience of complex assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions.
Being an independent service, we can be responsive, flexible and ‘think outside the box’ – and the successful candidate must be able to do the same.
Full or part time hours can be considered. This is an entry level role, suitable for someone recently qualified, with the potential for progression into more senior roles over time.
