Clinical Nurse Manager II (CNM2\) \- Hepatobiliary Service

Specific Purpose Contract, Full Time Hours.

The CNM2 Hepatobiliary Service is:

  • Professional Accountable to the Director of Nursing (DON), Mercy University Hospital (MUH).

  • Accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing, MUH.

  • Clinically Accountable to the Consultant Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgeon.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of nursing care.

  • Act as positive and accountable role model in providing direct patient care.

  • Assess, evaluate and review the requirements of individual patient needs.

  • Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards an evidence based care planning approach.

  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessment to include physical, psychological, social and spiritual elements of care using best evidence based practice in Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgical Oncology care.

  • Undertake a lead role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service provided to patients.

  • Participate in case review with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) colleagues.

  • Use a case management approach to patients with complex needs in collaboration with MDT in both Primary and Secondary Care as appropriate.

  • Take a proactive role in the formulation and provision of evidence based *Policies, Procedures, Protocols, and Guidance* (PPPGs) relating to Hepatobiliary Pancreatic/*Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour* (GIST) Surgical Oncology care.

  • Maintain a register of patients with Hepatobiliary Pancreatic/GIST cancer within the CNM2 Caseload.

  • Maintain a record of clinically relevant data aligned to National Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) as directed and advised by the DON.

  • Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements regarding quality, risk and safety.

  • Provide an efficient, effective and high\-quality service, respecting the needs of each patient, family and/or carer.

  • Effectively manage time and caseload in order to meet changing and developing service needs.

  • Form a working link with the Bed Management Department, Pre\-Assessment, Theatres and Wards in Cork university Hospital in order to schedule Pancreatic/GIST Patients for Surgery.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible to be so registered.

  • Have at least 5 years post registration clinical experience of which 2 years must be recent experience in acute surgical nursing.

  • Have the ability to practice safely and effectively to fulfilling the professional responsibility of the role within his/her scope of practice.

  • Have excellent interpersonal and organisational skill, and be able to demonstrate a high standard of verbal and written communication skills.

  • Will demonstrate evidence of a commitment to personal professional development, training and nursing research.
