Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine at registrar level (IMT3/ST3 equivalent) based at Yeovil District Hospital.

This role is ideal for doctors looking to gain Tier 2 decision\-making experience and progress towards higher specialty training in Acute Internal Medicine.

You will work within a busy Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), supported by experienced Acute Physicians, delivering high\-quality care for acutely unwell patients.

Main duties, tasks \& skills required

As a Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine, you will:

Act as a Tier 2 senior decision maker in AMU and SDEC

Assess and manage acute medical admissions efficiently

Support operational flow and clinical decision\-making

Supervise junior doctors (F1\-IMT2\)

Deliver teaching and feedback

Perform core procedures including:

Lumbar puncture

Chest aspiration/drain insertion

Ascitic taps

Cardioversion (with supervision as appropriate)

Participate in the Acute Medical Registrar on\-call rota (approx. 1:13\)
