Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is recruiting a compassionate Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) to join the CAMHS Crisis Team. Applicants must hold an MSc in Clinical Associate Psychology (Children and Young People).
The team delivers rapid, traumainformed support to young people experiencing acute mental health distress across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. You will support young people and families at times of high vulnerability, providing psychologically informed crisis care.
Under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will complete structured assessments, contribute to formulations, and deliver brief evidencebased interventions to stabilise crisis presentations and support recovery. You will also contribute to risk assessment, safety planning, and service quality.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team alongside nurses, psychiatrists, support workers, and partners in education and social care. This role offers strong development opportunities in a supportive, fastpaced environment, including supervision, reflective practice, and service development.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties and Responsibilities)
As a Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP), you will provide timely, highquality psychological assessment, formulation and brief intervention to children and young people in mental health crisis. Working under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will support stabilisation, contribute to safety planning, and promote resilience in young people and their families.
You will work flexibly across home, school, and clinic settings to ensure accessible and responsive care. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute psychological perspectives to formulation, risk management and care planning.
This role is ideal for a newly qualified or earlycareer CAP looking to develop skills in CAMHS, crisis intervention and multiagency working.
Main duties:
- Conduct structured psychological assessments for young people with acute needs.
- Develop collaborative formulations and contribute to safety planning.
- Deliver brief evidencebased interventions (e.g. CBT/DBT informed)
- Support young people and families during high risk or distress.
- Work with education, social care, and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and support audit/quality improvement.
- Contribute to student learning (no formal supervision required)
