This is a rare opportunity to join a long\-established Edinburgh based legal firm with an outstanding reputation and enviable client base.

The purpose of the role is to work with and support elderly and vulnerable clients and their families.

The role offers the opportunity to undertake rewarding and varied work supporting vulnerable clients and their families through important life events, care decisions and financial management matters.

*Responsibilities will include:*

· Meet with and advise clients and families regarding care options, benefits, residential care and welfare matters.

· Provide guidance on the operation and activation of Powers of Attorney.

· Support clients for whom the firm acts under a Power of Attorney, including visits at home, in hospital or in care settings.

· Liaise with family members, care providers, social work departments, financial advisers and other agencies.

· Assist with the administration of financial affairs including banking, pensions, investments, utilities and benefits.

· Assist with Financial Guardianship applications, inventories, management plans and annual account preparation.

· Work closely with the firm's private client and conveyancing teams but a with high degree of autonomy.

*Essential criteria:*

· Experience working with elderly or vulnerable adults. A social work background may be helpful along with a knowledge of the Benefits’ System as it relates to the elderly

· Strong organisational and communication skills.

· Ability to deal sensitively with clients, families and care professionals.

· Good IT skills

· A driving licence would be advantageous due to the nature of the role and client visits.
