ROLE OVERVIEW

You will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely client accounting for a diverse residential block management portfolio. Based in Manchester with hybrid working, you will be the financial partner to our property managers and clients, turning complex numbers into clear insight and dependable outcomes.

You will thrive in a team that values accountability, care, and collaboration. Your expertise will ensure service charge funds are safeguarded, year\-end accounts land on time, and clients receive proactive, professional support that builds trust and long\-term relationships.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

You will own the end\-to\-end service charge accounting cycle for an allocated portfolio, from bank reconciliations and accruals to draft year\-end accounts and audit liaison. Most days you will collaborate with property managers, resolve queries from clients and suppliers, and keep ledgers, statements and budgets accurate and up to date.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Consistently accurate ledgers, reconciled bank accounts and clean month\-end close within agreed timelines.

  • Year\-end service charge accounts delivered on schedule, with clear working papers and minimal audit queries.

  • Proactive communication that keeps property managers and clients informed, with queries resolved promptly.

  • Forecasts and budgets that are realistic, well\-evidenced and easily understood by non\-finance stakeholders.

  • Strong cash management: timely supplier payments, robust credit control support and clear client statements.

  • Continuous improvement mindset that streamlines processes and strengthens financial controls.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments for your portfolio.

  • Producing draft service charge year\-end accounts, supporting schedules and audit packs.

  • Partnering with property managers to build and review annual budgets and expenditure forecasts.

  • Monitoring cashflow, processing supplier payments, and allocating receipts accurately.

  • Investigating and resolving accounting queries from clients, leaseholders, auditors and suppliers.

  • Maintaining accurate records, controls and compliance with internal policies and client agreements.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
  • You balance precision with pragmatism, delivering accurate work at pace and owning outcomes.

  • You’re a clear, considerate communicator who can explain financial information simply.

  • You enjoy collaborating across teams and building positive relationships with clients and colleagues.

  • You are organised and resilient, able to prioritise effectively across a varied portfolio.

  • You’re curious and improvement\-focused, always looking for smarter ways to work.
