Clerical Officer – Customs (m/f/d)
Key Responsibilities
------------------------
- Ensure and coordinate shipping, claims handling, and customs activities (international inbound and outbound freight)
- Take responsibility for all operational customs and shipping processes as AEO representative
- Continuously optimize shipping and customs processes
- Communicate with authorities (customs, BAFA) and external logistics/service providers
- Act as interface to internal departments such as export control
- Maintain and update relevant legal requirements and internal processes related to customs clearance
- Conduct customs audits and serve as contact person for auditors and external reviewers
- Deliver training to employees in all relevant departments
- Manage internal projects within customs operations
- Prepare reports, analyses, and KPIs in line with group headquarters requirements
- Ensure cost and risk optimization within customs operations
- Handle US export control regulations (EAR and ITAR)
- Maintain and update customs and trade compliance databases
- Prepare Intrastat declarations
- Collaborate with internal accounting on customs\-related documentation

Education
- Successfully completed vocational training as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk, industrial clerk, forwarding and logistics clerk (m/f/d), or equivalent qualification, ideally with strong knowledge of customs regulations
Language Skills
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills
Professional Experience
- Several years of professional experience in customs operations or a comparable role, ideally in an international environment
- Basic knowledge of national and international customs regulations is an advantage
- Experience with customs software (preferably ATLAS) and confident use of MS Office
- Experience with ERP systems is an advantage
