The role

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and skilled teacher to lead day‑to‑day provision in our EYFS / KS1 resource base, with also the flexibility of teaching in mainstream. You will plan and deliver high‑quality, adaptive early years and KS1 teaching, translate EHCP outcomes into focused learning plans, and work closely with the SENCO and mainstream colleagues to secure full access and strong progress for pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and teach differentiated EYFS and KS1 provision tailored to pupils with SEND, especially speech, language and communication needs.


• Act as key person/class teacher for allocated pupils: develop strong attachments, personalised targets and day‑to‑day pastoral care.


• Translate EHCPs, therapist recommendations and SEN support plans into measurable short‑term goals and monitor impact.


• Deliver and evaluate targeted interventions (e.g. S\&L programmes, pre‑teaching) and keep accurate assessment records (EYFS Profile where relevant).


• Lead, line‑manage and develop teaching assistants assigned to the base, ensuring protected planning/liaison time.


• Liaise regularly with parents/carers and external professionals; prepare contributions for EHCP annual reviews and multi‑agency meetings.


• Promote inclusion through planned mainstream access, transition support and staff modelling of strategies.


• Maintain safeguarding, behaviour, medical and risk‑assessment protocols; contribute to wider whole‑school improvement.

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) with recent, successful EYFS/KS1 classroom experience, minimum of 2 years.


• Proven experience supporting pupils with SLCN or related SEND; experience with EHCPs desirable.


• Strong knowledge of EYFS statutory requirements and effective early years pedagogy.


• Effective communicator, collaborative team‑player and skilled leader of support staff.


• Commitment to restorative behaviour approaches, high expectations and improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.

• A supportive, values‑driven leadership team committed to professional development.


• A resource base embedded in mainstream school life and a clear remit to shape provision.


• Access to tailored CPD (SEND, speech \& language approaches, EYFS practice).


• A friendly, collaborative staff culture and active parent/community partnerships.
