Classroom and Cover HLTA (Full-time)

• Location: Central Plymouth


• Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications


• Start: Sept 2026


• Temporary - 6 weeks initially

We are looking for a dedicated Classroom and Cover HLTA to join our team. This full-time position involves leading a Year 1 class and covering various subjects across different year groups. The role offers a significant opportunity to impact pupils' learning and development. Candidates with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) are encouraged to apply.

Day-to-day of the role:

Monday–Tuesday:

• Lead a Year 1 class, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment.


• Deliver the full curriculum as planned.


• Conduct marking and other academic assessments as part of the role.


• Utilise duty-free playtimes and lunchtimes for marking, ensuring readiness for each teaching session.

Wednesday–Friday:

• Cover leadership release time and PPA across the school.


• Teach a range of subjects across different year groups.


• Planning time will be provided where needed, primarily for adapting lesson resources and updating lesson information.


• Lessons are already planned through published schemes.


• Conduct marking and other academic assessments as part of the role.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Qualified HLTA status or equivalent educational qualification.


• Candidates with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) are highly encouraged to apply.


• Experience in managing or leading a classroom, particularly in a primary setting.


• Strong understanding of the primary education curriculum.


• Proven ability to plan and deliver educational content effectively.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pupils, staff, and parents.


• Commitment to professional development and learning, particularly in educational strategies and pupil engagement.
