Webbs of Weybridge is one of the UK’s leading classic car hire and experience companies. Our fleet of beautifully maintained classic vehicles is hired for weddings, driving experiences, film and television productions, corporate events and private hire.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Classic Car Engineer to join our workshop team and help maintain our expanding collection of historic vehicles.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of British, European and American classics in a friendly, passionate and professional environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and preparing our fleet of classic vehicles to the highest possible standard.
Your work will ensure every vehicle is safe, reliable and presented impeccably for customer hires.
No two days are the same, with work ranging from routine servicing and fault diagnosis through to restoration projects and pre\-hire preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Mechanical repairs
- Fault diagnosis
- Engine tuning and carburettor setup
- Brake, steering and suspension repairs
- Electrical fault finding
- Clutch and gearbox repairs
- Cooling system repairs
- Pre\-hire vehicle inspections
- Post\-hire inspections
- Preparing vehicles for weddings, events and driving experiences
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records
- Liaising with suppliers and sourcing parts
- Assisting with restoration projects
- Ensuring workshop cleanliness and organisation
- Supporting continuous improvement within the workshop
- Previous experience working on classic or historic vehicles
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Excellent fault\-finding ability
- Experience with carburettors and ignition systems
- Understanding of older electrical systems
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
- Pride in delivering high\-quality workmanship
- Hands\-on experience with assembly, maintenance, and repair of vintage or specialised vehicles
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other repair machinery
- Knowledge of equipment repair techniques specific to classic cars or similar machinery
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles related to automotive engineering
