About the role
Source Supply are seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential Children’s home based Mansfield, this fantastic home supports looked After Children (LAC) with a range of Autism Spectrum Conditions and learning disabilities, including non\-verbal communication needs, selective mutism, pathological demand avoidance (PDA), global developmental delay, and severe anxiety.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing consistent care, emotional support and day\-to\-day assistance within the home. You’ll work as part of a team to help each young person develop their independence, communication, and life skills while ensuring their safety, well\-being and dignity at all times.
What the role involves:
- Supporting young people with all aspects of daily living in a residential setting
- Using nurturing, patient and adaptable approaches to meet complex communication and behavioural needs
- Building positive relationships and promoting stability for young people with Autism and related learning difficulties
- Responding proactively and calmly during periods of heightened anxiety or emotional distress
- Working collaboratively with the staff team, professionals and families
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to personalised care plans
- Sleep\-in and waking night shifts may also be required
- Children’s residential care, respite, SEND settings or adult care involving Autism, learning disabilities or complex needs
- Supporting non\-verbal young people or individuals using alternative communication methods
- Working with young people with emotional or behavioural challenges
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential childcare OR Level 3 Children, young people and families practitioner – Desirable but not essential
- Experience supporting children or young people in a school, residential, or specialist care environment
- A nurturing, consistent and resilient approach
- Understanding of Autism, communication differences and associated learning difficulties
- Recent, referenceable experience in a school or residential setting
- Willingness to work sleep\-in or waking night shifts when required
- Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
