Children’s Residential Support Worker

Location: Mansfield

Salary: £26,500 \- £28,000 Per annum (40 hours per week, plus available overtime)

Contract: Permanent

About the role

Source Supply are seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential Children’s home based Mansfield, this fantastic home supports looked After Children (LAC) with a range of Autism Spectrum Conditions and learning disabilities, including non\-verbal communication needs, selective mutism, pathological demand avoidance (PDA), global developmental delay, and severe anxiety.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing consistent care, emotional support and day\-to\-day assistance within the home. You’ll work as part of a team to help each young person develop their independence, communication, and life skills while ensuring their safety, well\-being and dignity at all times.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting young people with all aspects of daily living in a residential setting

  • Using nurturing, patient and adaptable approaches to meet complex communication and behavioural needs

  • Building positive relationships and promoting stability for young people with Autism and related learning difficulties

  • Responding proactively and calmly during periods of heightened anxiety or emotional distress

  • Working collaboratively with the staff team, professionals and families

  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to personalised care plans
· Rota\-based shifts, typically 7am–10pm. 3 to 4 shifts per week including some weekends. Monthly rota – flexible; 2 on 2 off, 3 on 3 off or 2 on 4 off.
  • Sleep\-in and waking night shifts may also be required
We’d love to hear from you if you have experience in:
  • Children’s residential care, respite, SEND settings or adult care involving Autism, learning disabilities or complex needs

  • Supporting non\-verbal young people or individuals using alternative communication methods

  • Working with young people with emotional or behavioural challenges
Requirements:
  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential childcare OR Level 3 Children, young people and families practitioner – Desirable but not essential

  • Experience supporting children or young people in a school, residential, or specialist care environment

  • A nurturing, consistent and resilient approach

  • Understanding of Autism, communication differences and associated learning difficulties

  • Recent, referenceable experience in a school or residential setting

  • Willingness to work sleep\-in or waking night shifts when required

  • Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude

  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
