About the Role
We are recruiting four experienced Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our new residential children’s home in Denton, Tameside.
The home will provide care and support to one child or young person aged 7–16 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced residential childcare professionals who are passionate about providing consistent, individualised and child\-centred care.
You will work as part of a dedicated team to create a safe, nurturing and stable home environment where the child can develop, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Provide high\-quality, individualised care and support to one child or young person.
- Support a child aged 7–16 with EBD needs.
- Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
- Support education, activities, appointments and community involvement.
- Implement care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Respond appropriately to challenging or distressed behaviour.
- Promote positive behaviour using trauma\-informed and child\-centred approaches.
- Maintain accurate daily records, handovers, and care documentation.
- Work closely with the Registered Manager, Responsible Individual, and other professionals.
- Support safeguarding and promote the child’s welfare at all times.
- Help create a warm, homely, and stable environment.
Applicants must have:
- Minimum one year’s experience working in children’s residential care.
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
- Ability to work a 4 days on / 4 days off rota, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
- Experience working with children or young people with EBD, emotional difficulties, or challenging behaviour.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and children’s residential care.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.

We are looking for someone who is patient, reliable, emotionally resilient, compassionate, and professional.
You should understand the importance of consistency when supporting a child with EBD needs and be able to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Previous experience of trauma\-informed care, attachment difficulties, challenging behaviour, de\-escalation, and positive behaviour support would be highly desirable.
