Trustee x2

Help shape the future of a growing national children’s charity.

Could your strategic leadership and growth experience help expand life\-changing support for children and families affected by childhood cancer across the UK?

The Joshua Tree is entering an exciting new phase of growth and is seeking two commercially minded individuals to join our Board of Trustees.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a growing national charity supporting families through some of the most challenging periods of their lives.

About The Joshua Tree

The Joshua Tree supports children and families affected by childhood cancer, providing vital emotional health and wellbeing support throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and beyond.

This year marks our 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of impact, compassion, and support. Over the last five years alone, the charity has doubled its income, significantly expanded its team and services, and increased its reach to support more than 450 families nationally.

As demand for our services continues to grow, we are seeking two new Trustees to help shape our next phase of national development.

The Opportunity

As a Trustee, you will work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the CEO to help shape the future of The Joshua Tree, ensuring strong governance, financial sustainability, and effective strategic oversight.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring commercial insight, influential networks, and experience of scaling organisations, services, or partnerships.

Time Commitment

Trustees are expected to attend:

  • Quarterly Board meetings held at our Support Centre in Sandiway (Northwich, Cheshire), with virtual attendance available if preferred

  • Committee meetings (where appointed), held virtually up to four times per year

  • Occasional strategy sessions, events, and stakeholder engagements, typically one to two times annually
This is a voluntary role. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Strategic leadership experience at Board, Executive, or senior leadership level

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to long\-term organisational growth

  • The time, commitment, and capacity to actively engage in Board and committee responsibilities

  • Strong judgement, integrity, and a collaborative approach

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and families affected by cancer
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Scaling charities, organisations, or services nationally

  • Fundraising, strategic income generation, or philanthropy

  • Corporate partnerships and relationship development

  • Commercial growth within an SME or scaling organisation
While not essential, a working knowledge of healthcare, children’s services, wellbeing, or social care environments would also be valuable.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV along with a supporting statement outlining your relevant experience, what you feel you could contribute to the Board, and your motivation for applying.

Closing date: Sunday 21st June 2026

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange an initial telephone discussion.

In\-person interviews are expected to take place during late July or early August, with appointments confirmed ahead of the Board meeting on 24th September 2026\.

Application question(s):

  • Do you have strategic leadership experience at Board, Executive, or senior leadership level?

  • Do you have the time and capacity to commit and actively engage in Board and committee responsibilities as outlined in the job advert?
