Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Catering Manager to oversee the food services at a primary school. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily catering operations, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality, and supervising a team of kitchen staff. Duties
- Plan, prepare, and oversee the preparation of nutritious meals suitable for primary school pupils, ensuring compliance with relevant food safety standards.
- Supervise and lead a team of kitchen staff, including cooks and assistants, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
- Manage daily catering operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
- Ensure all food production activities adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
- Coordinate with school staff to accommodate special dietary requirements and menu planning to meet nutritional guidelines.
- Oversee serving processes during meal times, ensuring efficient service and a pleasant dining experience for pupils.
- Maintain accurate records of food inventories, staff schedules, and compliance documentation.
- Lead initiatives to improve food quality, presentation, and overall customer satisfaction within the school setting.
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within a hospitality or catering environment such as restaurants, hotels, or similar settings.
- Supervising experience with strong team management skills; previous leadership roles are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production and hygiene standards.
- Experience in managing food services for children or within educational institutions is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, and suppliers.
- A recognised qualification in culinary arts or hospitality management is preferred but not essential if complemented by relevant experience.
- A proactive attitude with leadership qualities that inspire teamwork and uphold high standards of service delivery.
