About The Role
Role Overview
We are currently seeking a Catering Lead to join our family of Care Homes. As a Catering Lead, you will ensure the nutritional content of the meals provided and cater for the dietary needs of all residents. You will be responsible for the meal service and provision of refreshments for the residents and visitors at the Home as well as ensuring the smooth operational running of the kitchen, supervision of kitchen staff and that the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained.
Responsibilities include\*
- Responsible for the day\-to\-day management of the kitchen, ensuring that all shifts are covered.
- Ensuring that all staff entering the kitchen are appropriately attired in the correct uniform.
- Completing staff supervisions on a three\-monthly basis.
- Undertaking HR responsibilities of the department, including monitoring sickness/absence and performance issues and reporting on cases to the Registered Manager for consideration.
- Menu planning, taking into account residents' nutritional requirements and preferences.
- Preparing and cooking all meals, including special diets/medical requirements and ensuring high standards of presentation.
- Liaising with Registered Manager/Nurses regarding residents' dietary and nutritional requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining a high standard of hygiene in the kitchen and ensuring all kitchen staff maintain these standards.
- To train/receive training in the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI).
- Monitoring optimum stock levels and ensuring food is stored and used in rotation.
- Monitoring adherence to HACCP and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all cooking utensils and crockery.
- Responsible for maintaining standards of hygiene in the kitchen according to the cleaning schedules.
- Responsible for ensuring that the Registered Manager is kept informed about the ordering, storing and provision of food and standards of hygiene.
- Responsible for storage, preparation, cooking and serving of all foods according to the Food Safety Act 1990\.
- Undertaking training as required and in line with company and regulatory requirements.

- Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Authorised to work in the United Kingdom?
- Atleast 2 years of Team Management Experience
- Professional degree in cookery /industry recognised qualification
- Atleast 3 years of Catering Management experience, ideally within a care home setting
- Understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements, including modified diets and allergen management (IDDSI awareness)
- Atleast 5 years of Chef / Professional Kitchen experience
- Understanding of HACCP principles and compliance with food safety regulations
