About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-presented school environment for pupils with additional needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by ensuring the school site remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose while supporting young people to develop independence, responsibility, and practical life skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and upkeep of the school site.


• Carry out routine repairs and respond promptly to maintenance issues.


• Conduct regular health and safety checks and risk assessments.


• Ensure the site remains clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained.


• Support pupils in developing independence and practical life skills through involvement in site care and maintenance activities.


• Assist in facilitating work experience opportunities related to site management and maintenance.


• Work closely with school staff to ensure the environment supports pupils' wellbeing and individual needs.


• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture.

What We're Looking For

• A compassionate, reliable, and proactive individual.


• Previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management experience.


• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.


• An understanding of supporting pupils with additional needs would be advantageous.


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


• A flexible and practical approach to problem-solving.


• Commitment to maintaining high standards across the school environment.


• A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
