Job Type: Term Time Only + 1 Week | Split Shift (7:00–10:00am & 3:00–6:00pm)
This role requires opening and closing of a school site.
Reed is delighted to be working with a well-established Multi-Academy Trust in the Bath area to recruit a School Caretaker to join their Estates team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, proactive, and reliable individual who takes pride in maintaining safe, secure, and welcoming environments.
As a key presence on site, you will often be the first and last person many visitors see each day, making a positive and professional impression while helping to maintain a safe and well-presented environment.
There is also the potential to combine this position with an additional Caretaker (Evenings & Lettings) role for candidates seeking increased hours.
Key Responsibilities
As School Caretaker, your responsibilities will include:
Ensuring the security, safety, and overall upkeep of school buildings and grounds
Opening and closing school sites in line with operational requirements
Carrying out a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, including basic plumbing, decorating, and general repairs
Responding promptly to reactive maintenance issues and site emergencies
Completing routine health and safety inspections and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
Supervising contractors on site and ensuring adherence to Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Supporting wider estates projects, compliance activities, and site improvement programmes
Providing support across multiple school sites when required, including absence cover
Undertaking planned maintenance and improvement works during school holiday periods
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who have:
Previous experience in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance, or a similar role
Good knowledge of health and safety practices.
Practical maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, decorating, and repairs
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards
Previous experience within a school environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as training will be provided.
