Start \- August 2026 JOB DESCRIPTION (Benfleet)
Max has various hours available, ideally looking for just one more person initially 2 mornings a week 0700 – 0900 to help with getting ready for school and 1 evening a week 1400\- 2000 (happy to discuss start time) and a 1 x 12hr shift a week over the weekend (happy to discuss shift dates and times) term time. During school holidays there are more permanent shifts available including covering holidays of existing team and some shifts doubling up with existing team members.
To assist, and help teach independence while supporting in the family home and accessing the community, to meet complex and sometimes intense medical needs, and have fun. Maxs “world” can be very small at times, we are always seeking PAs with experience and enthusiasm to encourage and support Max to explore his environment and abilities with confidence, through fun, smiles and happiness Some shifts include accompanying Max and mum to London based hospital appointments
Max is an absolutely amazing 17 yr old boy wheelchair user with complex learning, physical and medical difficulties caused by an extremely rare genetic condition. Max is completely non verbal, currently using PECS with significant success for transitions and “I want” sentences, gestures and vocals too. There is also some challenging tactile behaviours at times, needing patience and understanding to help him move on and resolve, with care.
You will need to be someone with a good sense of humour, be calm, enthusiastic and most importantly, patient, positive natured and full of smiles, there are no 2 shifts the same at Team Mighty Max. Max mainly has an ipad at home, but by having this with him he enjoys many activities, he loves tickles, massage, tactile play, cuddles, holding hands, foot rubs are a firm favourite, his swing in his garden to go as high as your nerves allow! Hydro sessions, minature railways, watching his favourite film, supermarket trips and escalators/lifts to name a few Max is completely adult dependent for all personal care and support needs although he is learning to assist and working hard on toilet training, via adult led guidance on a strict timetable and support. He currently wears pads, with good success using the toilet when supported.
Max has a mic\-key button feeding tube in situ for all fluid intake plus 3 formula tube feeds a day and numerous hourly medications. Max needs spoon feeding for all main meals, and constant prompting for entire snack times.
Max has many medical diagnosis, epilepsy currently medicine controlled just short absences break through, Cyclical Vomiting syndrome also controlled with daily medication and Cardiomyopathy also medicine controlled and strictly monitored, significant reflux, gut motility, autonomic dysfunction and severe autism to name a few.
Rate of pay is £15\.75 an hour

Applicant must be a non smoker, full clean driving license to drive Maxs mobility vehicle and happy to work with a labrador puppy!
