Age Concern Bracknell Forest is a 50\-year\-old charity that supports and champions the needs of older people in the community. We run an independent day centre provision to offer companionship, networking, and activities to the elderly. We are fully dementia\-friendly and aim to support as many people as possible.

We have x1 role available. x17 HOURS PER WEEK \-

Working pattern (per week):

  • Tuesday: 12pm \- 4pm

  • Wednesday: 12pm \- 4pm

  • Thursday: 11am \- 4pm

  • Friday: 12pm \- 4pm
We are looking to recruit reliable, confident care support worker who can support the running of our centre and meeting the needs of those who attend. The hours above are fixed and guaranteed weekly, there could be opportunities to work more hours covering absences due to sickness / annual leave.

Job Description:

To provide excellent care within a Day Centre setting, working with and supporting elderly people. This will be done through a range of evidenced based methods of care and with knowledge of safeguarding adults. Practitioners will always aim to improve outcomes for service users and to enable them to reach their full potential.

To deliver and assist in direct care services for vulnerable adults. Providing and running a range of stimulating group / individual activities. Supporting service users with general care needs, companionship, and with mealtime preparation, toileting, tidying and cleaning.

To work with service users to identify, promote and encourage their resilience/independence.

To hear and promote the voice of the service user, aiding them to preserve their dignity with respect.

To promote and safeguard the welfare of adults who access our service.

  • To deliver high\-quality care and standards that are in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, using internal tools and any other identified processes aimed at improving outcomes for service users.

  • To deliver engaging activities, to engage a group.

  • To work directly with vulnerable adults and their families in the Day Centre, the community or other venues at times.

  • To actively participate in regular supervision/appraisals.

  • To work in partnership with all professionals to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable adults and their families.

  • To ensure accurate, timely, factual, and reflective case recording on all internal systems in place and to ensure that all recordings are up to date.

  • To respect and promote the dignity and welfare (both physical and emotional) of service users supporting them with all aspects of care including (but not limited to) toileting, feeding, medicating.

  • To follow all policies and procedures and work in accordance with Age Concern Bracknell Forest’s values in order to meet the needs of service users.
Key skills we are looking for:
  • Holds relevant professional qualification *(Care Certificate, NVQ or equivalent).* If any of the above is not held; be willing to work towards completing charity specific courses outlined during probationary periods (6 months).

  • Can demonstrate evidence of ongoing commitment to training and a willingness to undertake further relevant training at the request of the charity.

  • A firm knowledge and understanding of vulnerable adults and their care needs, along with the core principles of Safeguarding Adults.

  • Trained or with experience in providing care and support to service users with a wide range of needs, illnesses, and disabilities *(including dementia and how that can affect people diagnosed)*.

  • The ability to create, deliver and encourage participation in a range of individual / group activities.

  • To undertake tasks detailed in a service user’s support plan, using a person\-centred approach and in the least intrusive way possible.

  • To recognise the signs of abuse and immediately report abuse or suspected abuse to a manager. Promptly reporting any issues concerning the care, support, well\-being or behavior of the service user and update records accordingly.

  • Have knowledge / training in health and safety (COSHH, RIDDOR, Food Hygiene, and PPE).
Pay: £12\.71 per hour
