About the role:
Great Wheatley is a warm \& friendly Residential Nursing Home located in Rayleigh, Essex. The home is registered for 21 residents with varying needs such as, old age, Dementia and Alzheimer's. In addition, we offer specialist care such as, Cancer Care, Head/Brain Injuries, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy \& Parkinson's Disease.
We currently have an excellent opportunity for Care Assistants to join us.
We are looking for experienced staff, or those who are new to care and would like to take on a new challenge.
Being a Care Assistant is a busy role which can be physically and mentally demanding. Candidates will be expected to have an understanding of and sympathy with elderly people and will be required to offer outstanding care to our residents.
As a Care Assistant you will support our residents to remain as active and independent as possible while supporting them with their day\-to\-day difficulties. The role involves working as part of a team to produce personalised care plans and making a difference to our resident’s day to day life.
Duties \& Responsibilities
As a care assistant your responsibilities will vary as the nature of the role calls for it.
However, these will mostly consist of:
· Assisting with personal hygiene, washing assistance with using the toilet, assistance with incontinence inc. pads, commodes, and catheter bags.
· Supporting and ensuring that clients are encouraged to eat a healthy, balanced diet and the correct quantities and that prepared meals are appetising.
· Supporting residents using a hoist or other aides, or assistance in standing and movement.
· Dressing or assisting with any physical activity whereby the client needs support
· Domestic duties, including cleaning, emptying bins, and washing.
· Keeping comprehensive records and ensuring these are detailed and accurate.
· Assisting with medication, completing the MAR chart (Medical Administration Record) the administration of medication as outlined in the care plan.
· Promote independence by allowing residents to do as much as they can for themselves and only offering support where they need it
· Maintaining professional relationships, including wearing a full uniform, with ID and PPE (personal protection equipment).
· Safeguarding and protecting residents from significant harm, abuse, or neglect.
· Respecting residents’ privacy and dignity at all times.
· Delivering person\-centred care to residents.
· Offering residents companionship by talking and listening to them.
· Promoting health for residents including, infection prevention, understanding illnesses including dementia and supporting with emergency first aid where necessary.
Please Note
· Applicants must be 18 years plus due to providing personal care.
Qualifications, skills \& experience required:
· No experience is required as full training will be given.
· Ability to work well in a team, as the job often requires working closely together with other healthcare professionals.
· Patience and the ability to remain calm and collected in a crisis.
· Ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds.
· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen to patients and clearly verbalise information.
· Ability to multitask, as you may need to attend to more than one task at a time.
· Physical strength and endurance, as the job may require lifting patients and long hours of physical exertion.

Due to recent changes in legislation which will come into effect on 11th November 2021, staff are required to have been double vaccinated against Covid\-19 to work in a care home. (Limited medical exemptions apply
Rota
Our Rota operates over a twenty\-four\-hour period, and you are expected to be included in the rolling rota system where you will cover varied shifts.
Special Conditions
Flexibility:
· You are required to be flexible, as shifts may change at short notice due to the needs of the service.
Work Permits will be given to the right Candidates.
