This is a full\-time post for a Cardiology Consultant with special interest in complex cardiac devices and pacing. (10\.0 PA).
The appointee will work in collaboration with the other Cardiology Consultants, other Specialist Consultants, Doctors in Training, Cardiology Specialist Nurses and Physiological Sciences.
The role will be delivering outpatient and inpatient Cardiology services to the local population serviced by the George Eliot Hospital Trust, to share facilities and provide continuity to patients and staff and deliver high standards of care.
Specific duties will include up to four Cath Lab sessions per week and up to two outpatient clinics per week. A typical clinic will consist of 5 new patients and 4 follow\-up patients per clinic.
The purpose of this role is to support and further develop the Cardiology service and to provide daily review of patients and senior decision making to ensure optimal and early review of patients.
This post of Consultant in Cardiology based at The George Eliot NHS Trust in Nuneaton will form part of the ongoing development of the Cardiology Department, giving exciting opportunities to shape the service for the future. You will join the existing Cardiology Team in providing a first class service for the population of Nuneaton and Bedworth, North Warwickshire, North Coventry and South West Leicestershire.
These posts are a key part of the Trusts strategy to deliver a step change in the clinical model for managing unplanned medical attendances. With established close working relationships between Cardiology and the medical specialties, the appointee will join a highly motivated team.

The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive service as a Consultant Cardiologist and as a lead for implanting and managing complex cardiac pacing devices including cardiac resynchronisation pacemakers and defibrillators. Additional skills such as cross\-sectional cardiac imaging or heart failure management will be an advantage.
The post holder will be required to participate in a Consultant of the Week ward rota for the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) which is an 18 bedded unit with an assessment area. The ward has facilities for continuous 12 lead ECG and haemodynamic monitoring as well as temporary cardiac pacing. There are 4 CHF ACS and AF specialist nurses that offer an in\-reach service for patients with ACS and AF on the Cardiology Ward and in Acute Medical Wards.
A diagnostic Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory is available at George Eliot Hospital. Cardiac catheterisation and interventional sessions are also utilised at the local tertiary centre \- the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), with whom the team has a close liaison. The role will ensure a full pacing service (Single and Dual Chamber Implants, complex devices) operating our of George Eliot Hospital with the Pacing Implants carried out in the Interventional Radiology Suite. There is currently 2 pacing sessions per week at GEH.
The role requires participation in a GIM on\-call rota based at GEH.
