CAFÉ OPERATIONS / DUTY MANAGER Busy independent city centre café

We are seeking a reliable, hands\-on hospitality professional to help lead the daily operation of a busy café environment.

This is a practical working management role suited to someone who leads from the floor, communicates well with staff, maintains standards under pressure, and takes pride in running an organised operation.

The café is owner\-operated, with support and guidance provided, however the successful candidate must be capable of taking responsibility for day\-to\-day shift management and maintaining smooth service during busy trading periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising daily café operations and service standards


• Managing and supporting staff during busy shifts


• Opening and closing responsibilities


• Staff rota support and shift coordination


• Preparing and serving café food including breakfasts, paninis, toasties and light lunch items


• Supporting kitchen prep and maintaining food production standards during service


• Food safety, cleanliness, and operational compliance


• Stock control, ordering, and waste reduction


• Customer service and handling issues professionally


• Supporting training and development of junior staff


• Maintaining a calm, organised working environment

• Previous café, hospitality, or restaurant supervisory experience


• Comfortable working hands\-on in both service and food preparation


• Strong reliability and attendance record


• Confident leading staff on shift


• Practical problem\-solving ability


• Good communication and organisational skills


• Able to work calmly under pressure


• Coffee/barista experience advantageous


• Food safety knowledge preferred

• an experienced assistant manager ready to step up, or


• an established duty manager seeking a stable independent business environment.

Pay: £13\.00\-£14\.50 per hour
