Tamlex is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of steel cable management systems, supplying cable tray, cable ladder, trunking, strut and associated products throughout the UK electrical wholesale and project markets.
As part of our continued investment in manufacturing technology, including a new Amada punch and automation cell, we are looking to recruit an experienced CAD Engineer to strengthen our engineering and production team.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing drawings, developing punch programs, nesting components for production, and supporting the introduction of new products and manufacturing processes.
You will work closely with our Design, Production and Sales teams to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
- Produce manufacturing documentation and technical drawings.
- Generate punch and blanking programs for CNC machinery.
- Develop efficient nesting layouts to maximise material utilisation.
- Support new product development and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain engineering data, BOMs and product specifications.
- Liaise with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Assist with tooling and process development for new machinery and production lines.
- Previous experience in a CAD Engineering, CAD Technician or Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Experience using Amada VPSS4ie Blanking Software or RADAN.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good attention to detail and problem\-solving skills.
- Strong IT skills and proficiency with CAD software.
- Experience with Trumpf TruTops or Boost software.
- Experience programming CNC punch, laser or sheet metal machinery.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication and cable management products.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
