Buyer
A well-established manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to join its team.
This is a hands-on purchasing role within a manufacturing environment, so previous manufacturing buying experience is essential. The successful candidate will be confident managing suppliers, sourcing materials and components, negotiating costs and ensuring purchasing requirements are met efficiently and commercially.
Experience within mechanical purchasing would be highly advantageous, particularly for candidates who have previously bought mechanical components, parts or equipment.
Key Responsibilities • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities across the business
- Source materials, components and products from approved and new suppliers
- Obtain and negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms
- Raise and manage purchase orders
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Work closely with production, engineering and other internal departments to ensure purchasing requirements are met
- Identify opportunities to improve costs, quality and delivery performance
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure procurement processes are followed
- Proven experience in a manufacturing buying/purchasing environment – essential
- Experience purchasing components, materials or products for a manufacturing operation
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Mechanical buying experience – advantageous
- A proactive, practical approach to problem solving

- Office-based working, 5 days per week
- Working hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm
