About Because You Matter

Because You Matter is a growing self\-care and self\-worth business created to encourage people to recognise their own value, make more space for themselves and prioritise their own wellbeing.

Because You Matter is moving into an exciting next stage, and I'm looking for someone who can think alongside me, bring their own ideas, spot opportunities and help turn ideas into action.

About the role

This isn't a traditional admin role.

I'm looking for someone who will become a valued part of the business and bring their own ideas, energy and initiative to the role.

The role will involve a mixture of business development, creative thinking, practical support and helping make the most of opportunities.

The work will vary from week to week depending on what we're working towards.

You might be helping develop an idea, looking for ways to get the business noticed, making an enquiry, preparing for an opportunity, going somewhere with me or helping turn something we've discussed into action.

What you could be doing

• Brainstorming ideas for growing and promoting Because You Matter


• Identifying opportunities to get the business noticed locally and online


• Suggesting businesses, organisations, groups and other places that may be interested in Because You Matter


• Making enquiries and contacting potential opportunities


• Helping develop ideas into practical plans


• Drafting emails and other communications from our discussions


• Making phone calls where appropriate


• Helping arrange meetings, visits and introductions


• Accompanying me to suitable business, networking or community opportunities


• Helping prepare for meetings, events and promotional opportunities


• Helping organise books, booklets, cards and other promotional materials


• Helping develop promotional campaigns and new ways of getting Because You Matter noticed


• Following ideas through and making sure things don't get forgotten


• Carrying out practical tasks that help move the business forward

About you

You don't need to have worked as a PA before, and you don't need to be a marketing professional.

Personality, attitude and initiative are more important than having the perfect CV.

I'm looking for someone who is:

• Naturally curious and interested in what I'm building


• Friendly and confident talking to people


• Proactive and willing to suggest ideas


• Creative and able to think beyond the obvious


• Comfortable making enquiries and approaching people


• Organised and able to follow things through


• Reliable and dependable


• Happy working independently once we've agreed what needs to be achieved


• Comfortable working in a small business where priorities can change from week to week


• Someone who genuinely enjoys helping things happen

You don't need to have all the answers. I'm looking for someone who will ask questions, spot possibilities, contribute their own ideas and take initiative rather than waiting to be told every step.

And one important extra...

You need to be comfortable around dogs.

Fiz is very much part of the package, so being happy to have a four\-legged companion around while we're working is important!

What this role isn't

This isn't a role where you'll be expected to complete six hours of routine administration every week.

The work will change depending on what Because You Matter is working towards.

One week might involve developing ideas and contacting businesses. Another might involve going somewhere with me, preparing for an opportunity, working on promotional materials or helping with a particular campaign.

The aim is always the same: to help grow the business, increase its visibility and turn good ideas into action.

What success looks like

At the end of a good week, I'd like to feel:

“We've moved something forward.”

That could mean we've discovered an opportunity, contacted someone new, arranged a meeting, developed an idea, gone somewhere together, created something useful or taken an idea and put it into action.
