Business Support Administrator

  • Working Hours: 9am till 5pm (37 hours per week)

  • Duration: Till 31 December 2026

About the Role

Blackburn with Darwen Council are seeking an organised and proactive Business Support Administrator to join a busy and dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing a varied workload.

You will play a key role in ensuring administrative processes run smoothly by coordinating requests, supporting colleagues, and delivering high-quality business support services. Please note that minute taking is not required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Support Administrator, your duties will include:

  • Managing multiple shared mailboxes and responding to a wide range of enquiries and service requests.

  • Raising and processing purchase orders accurately and efficiently.

  • Processing invoices and ensuring timely handling of payments.

  • Coordinating interpreter bookings and other service requirements received through shared mailboxes.

  • Arranging travel and accommodation as required.

  • Liaising with internal departments, external providers, and stakeholders to coordinate services.

  • Prioritising and managing multiple tasks within a busy administrative environment.

  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with administrative procedures.

  • Providing general administrative and business support to the wider team.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills.

  • Able to prioritise competing demands and work effectively under pressure.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Confident communicating with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Experienced in an administrative or business support role (desirable).

  • Able to work independently whilst contributing positively to a team environment.
