Your new role
As an Assistant Manager, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of clients, overseeing assignments from planning through to completion. You will review accounts and supporting working papers, manage deadlines and workloads, and ensure work is delivered accurately and efficiently.
You will build strong relationships with clients, developing a good understanding of their businesses so that you can identify potential issues and provide practical advice. The role will also include supporting managers and partners with more complex assignments, contributing to fee and scope discussions, and recognising opportunities to introduce clients to additional services.
Alongside your client responsibilities, you will supervise and develop junior members of the team, reviewing their work, providing constructive feedback and helping them build their technical knowledge and confidence.
What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally be ACA, ACCA or CA qualified, although applications from candidates qualified by experience will also be considered. You will have developed your experience within an accountancy practice and be confident preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a varied client base.You should be comfortable managing competing deadlines, reviewing work, supporting junior colleagues and communicating directly with clients. Experience of corporation tax, VAT and wider business advisory matters would be helpful, together with the judgement to recognise when specialist input is required.
