Day-to-day of the role:
- Business Planning and Future Sheffield Initiatives:
- Coordinate business planning across Parks, Leisure, and Libraries.
- Develop business cases and proposals, identifying savings opportunities.
- Provide financial and performance analysis to support decision-making.
- Support the implementation of change programmes and service improvement projects.
- Financial Management and Forecasting:
- Produce budget information and reports, supporting financial forecasting.
- Analyse financial information and present it clearly to support business decisions.
- Identify savings and opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Deputise for the Head of Service in financial forecasting and other areas as needed.
- Performance Management and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain performance management information.
- Monitor performance against targets, analysing data to turn it into meaningful information.
- Review and improve existing systems and processes.
- Change and Service Improvement:
- Identify and implement service improvement plans.
- Coordinate change activity and engage relevant stakeholders.
- Develop work plans with realistic objectives and deadlines.
- Risk, Resilience, and Business Continuity:
- Maintain robust Business Continuity arrangements.
- Support risk management activities and ensure plans are up-to-date.
- Corporate Compliance and Service Coordination:
- Ensure service compliance with Council processes.
- Coordinate responses to corporate requests and represent the service at corporate groups.
- Business Support:
- Ensure effective Business Support provision and manage forward plans for team/service meetings.
- Experience in a similar managerial role, ideally within public sector services such as Parks, Leisure, or Libraries.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and performance management.
- Proven ability to lead change and implement service improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of corporate compliance and risk management.
