Business Development Specialist

We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Business Development Specialist to help drive new client growth at Ecosurety. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and confidently engaging prospective clients to understand their needs. You’ll be organised, motivated, and a strong communicator, with a collaborative approach and the ability to turn early conversations into opportunities.

Job Description
Lead Generation

  • Identify and research prospective clients aligned to Ecosurety’s target sectors

  • Proactively contact prospects via phone, email, LinkedIn, and events

  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities


Qualification & Discovery
  • Conduct discovery calls to understand client needs, regulatory position, and commercial opportunity

  • Qualify leads against agreed criteria and assess fit for Ecosurety’s services

  • Clearly articulate Ecosurety’s value proposition in early-stage conversations


Pipeline Management
  • Accurately record activity, insights, and next steps in CRM systems

  • Prepare thorough handovers to account managers for qualified opportunities

  • Follow the sales processes from lead generation through to onboarding


Market & Product Knowledge
  • Maintain a strong understanding of packaging EPR, PRNs, RAM, and wider compliance requirements for prospective sales

  • Stay informed on market developments, competitor positioning, and regulatory change

  • Confidently explain Ecosurety’s services, differentiators, and commercial approach


Collaboration
  • Work closely with marketing on campaigns, messaging, and lead follow-up

  • Share market insight and feedback with the wider commercial team

  • Continuously develop sales skills, product knowledge, and sector understanding

Person Specification
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, lead generation, or another client-facing commercial role, with confidence in initiating conversations and building new relationships.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to ask effective questions, understand client needs, and explain services clearly and credibly.

  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach, with the ability to spot opportunities, and contribute to a healthy sales pipeline.

  • Well organised and self-motivated, with good attention to detail.

  • Collaborative and adaptable, with a willingness to work closely with colleagues across the wider team and share insight to support continuous improvement.

  • A fast learner, capable of quickly absorbing new (often technical) information and a strong interest in building in depth knowledge of Ecosurety’s services, market, and client challenges.

Package

  • £35,000 – £39,000 per year

  • Permanent full-time contract, 8-hour day with flexibility

  • 28 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays

  • 5 x salary life insurance, 7% employer pension contribution, up to 10% bonus, employee health cash plan, paid sick leave, critical illness cover, 2 weeks workcation, options to buy additional holiday or unpaid leave, 3 days volunteer leave, happy to talk flexible working, remote working, wellbeing support, great office location, £250 home working set up payment.

  • Hybrid working: Employees are expected to work with colleagues (primarily at the office) at least 50% of the month
