About Us
Safe Haven Training is one of England's leading first aid training providers, delivering courses across 85\+ venues nationwide to clients ranging from small businesses to major organisations including NHS trusts and national retailers. We're a growing, ambitious company with plans to expand further in 2027\.
The Role
We're looking for a driven, commercially\-minded Business Development Manager to grow Safe Haven's client base and revenue. You'll split your time between winning new business—through tenders, partnerships, and outbound activity—and managing a renewal pipeline that keeps existing clients coming back before their certifications lapse. This is a role for someone who's as comfortable writing a tender response as they are picking up the phone to upsell a renewal.
What You'll Do
New Business
- Find and win tender/framework opportunities for H\&S training contracts
- Write and submit tender responses
- Proactively prospect and cold\-outreach corporate clients outside existing/lapsed accounts
- Build referral/partnership relationships with complementary H\&S training providers
- Explore white\-label/reseller opportunities for Safe Haven courses
- Represent Safe Haven at industry events and networking, generating qualified leads
- Build and maintain a reusable content library (case studies, accreditations, pricing schedules)
- Keep across competitor pricing and market positioning to inform proposals
- Proactively re\-contact clients from previous bookings to renew before certificates lapse
- Own the renewal pipeline in CRM, timed to certificate expiry dates
- Upsell and cross\-sell on renewal calls (e.g. EFAW→FAW, paediatric, mental health first aid, Benedict's Law)
- Provide pricing input on ad\-hoc corporate proposals and quotes
- Hit monthly/quarterly new business and renewal revenue targets
- Report pipeline value, conversion rates, and forecasts to Director
- Proven track record in B2B business development, sales, or account management, ideally in training, compliance, or a related service sector
- Experience writing and winning tender/framework bids (desirable)
- Confident, persuasive communicator, equally comfortable in writing and on the phone
- Commercially minded with strong negotiation skills
- Organised and able to manage a pipeline across multiple opportunities and stages simultaneously
- Proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Self\-motivated, target\-driven, and comfortable working independently
- Full UK driving licence (for events and client visits)
- Opportunity to shape a growing business function as the company expands
- Supportive, friendly team environment
- Training and development opportunities
- Pension scheme
- 30 days holiday including bank holidays
