Business Development Manager – Freeze Dryers

A leading global scientific equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive European growth for their freeze drying / lyophilisation product range. This is a high-impact, strategic role focused on expanding market share, developing new opportunities, and supporting channel partners across Europe.

This position is fully remote and can be based in the UK or mainland Europe, with regular travel to customers, partners and industry events.

The Role

• Business Development Manager for Freeze Dryers


• Lead business development activity across Europe within freeze drying / lyophilisation markets


• Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities


• Conduct customer visits, product demonstrations, seminars and exhibitions


• Deliver technical training on freeze dryer product ranges


• Act as the regional subject matter expert for freeze drying technology


• Support channel managers, partners, marketing, product management and service teams


• Monitor competitor activity and provide market intelligence


• Define and execute market-entry strategies by country and segment


• Build strong relationships with key channel partners


• Produce monthly visit plans and annual business plans


• Contribute to competitive positioning and long-term growth strategy

• PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Sciences or related field


• Master’s degree with strong experience also considered


• Hands-on experience with freeze dryers or similar laboratory instrumentation


• Around 5 years’ experience in business development or technical sales


• Strong understanding of freeze drying / lyophilisation technologies


• Excellent commercial, analytical and negotiation skills


• Ability to engage confidently with technical and senior-level stakeholders


• High level of autonomy and proactive territory management


• Fluent English; additional European languages are an advantage


• Willingness to travel extensively across Europe (approx. 50%)


• Occasional global travel (typically 1–2 US trips per year)


• Strong IT skills (MS Office, CRM)

• All employees are expected to follow HSE procedures, report hazards, use appropriate PPE, and participate in required training.

• Competitive salary £53,000–£75,000
