We’re seeking a Business Change Manager to support the Discovery Houses Programme, ensuring its long\-term impact is embedded in property planning and team culture.

Over five years, the programme has developed 28 world\-class cultural destinations by improving visitor experience and driving culture change, backed by audience research and extensive guidance. This role will bridge the programme and operations, embedding its approaches into business as usual for the 28 houses and introducing new ways of working that can be adopted across other properties beyond the programme’s lifecycle.

You’ll be the vital link between the programme and business operations – embedding the culture change and legacy products into business as usual for the 28 Discovery Houses, whilst also creating and embedding new ways of working for other houses outside of the cohort to be able to work with, beyond the lifetime of the programme.

What it's like to work here:You’ll join a collaborative, forward\-thinking team, reporting to the Senior Programme Manager and working with senior leaders, regional teams, and central functions. The role is hybrid, combining remote work, time in hubs, and travel to build relationships and drive change.

The Discovery Houses Programme supports 28 exceptional properties tied to renowned artists, designers, and historic figures like Winston Churchill and Beatrix Potter. Operating within a matrix organisation, you’ll collaborate with specialist colleagues and work directly with properties across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

As this is a national role, there is flexibility on your contractual place of work. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week and work from our office in Swindon once per month.

What you'll be doing:You’ll lead change and transition activities, ensuring property teams can continue delivering Discovery Houses plans and building a network of change champions. You’ll also consolidate programme resources and test new ways of working with other properties.

Using data and insight, you’ll develop and manage a change framework, track benefits, assess readiness, identify gaps, and report on progress.

You’ll engage senior stakeholders, run workshops, and create clear communications to drive adoption. Working closely with senior leaders, boards, and specialist teams, you’ll ensure alignment, manage resistance, and support delivery across the programme.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
