Business Analyst
The Business Analyst will work closely with finance teams, operational stakeholders, and clients to analyse business processes, improve reporting capabilities, support system enhancements, and help deliver finance transformation initiatives across the organisation.
This role is ideal for a candidate with experience in financial services, accounting operations, or business process improvement who enjoys combining analytical thinking with stakeholder engagement and technology\-driven solutions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying operational inefficiencies, gathering business requirements, supporting reporting automation, and helping implement process improvements across accounting, payroll, tax, and audit functions.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis \& Process Improvement
\* Analyse current business processes across bookkeeping, payroll, tax, audit, and accounts preparation functions.
\* Document “as\-is” and “to\-be” process flows and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
\* Gather, document, and refine business and functional requirements from internal stakeholders and clients.
\* Support finance transformation and system improvement initiatives.
\* Conduct gap analysis and recommend practical solutions to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
\* Facilitate stakeholder workshops and process review meetings.
Data Analysis \& Reporting
\* Support the development and enhancement of financial and operational reporting dashboards using Power BI.
\* Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
\* Produce regular management information reports and business performance analysis.
\* Assist with reporting automation initiatives and data quality improvement.
\* Work with SQL\-based datasets and reporting tools where required.
Systems \& Technology Support
\* Support optimisation and integration of accounting platforms including Xero, QuickBooks, and IRIS.
\* Collaborate with technical teams and external vendors on system enhancements and implementations.
\* Assist in testing new systems, process changes, and reporting solutions.
\* Create user stories, testing scenarios, and acceptance criteria for system changes.
\* Provide user support and training documentation where required.
Stakeholder Management
\* Build strong working relationships across finance, operations, and client\-facing teams.
\* Translate business needs into clear technical and operational requirements.
\* Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and management.
\* Support change management activities to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems.
Skills \& Experience
Required
\* Previous experience as a Business Analyst, Finance Analyst, or Process Analyst within accounting, financial services, or professional services environments.
\* Strong understanding of accounting operations including bookkeeping, payroll, tax, accounts preparation, and audit processes.
\* Experience gathering business requirements and documenting business processes.
\* Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills.
\* Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
\* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
\* Experience using accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, and IRIS.
\* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment.
Desirable
\* Experience with Power BI, SQL, or data visualisation tools.
\* Exposure to finance transformation or process automation projects.
\* Understanding of reporting automation and workflow improvement.
\* Knowledge of Agile or project delivery methodologies.
Pay: £45,000\.00\-£55,000\.00 per year
