Business, AI \& Marketing Innovation Assistant

Location: Bolton – Hybrid
Hours: Part\-time, flexible around college/studies
Pay: Hourly rate depending on experience and capability

I’m looking for a switched\-on, ambitious person to work alongside me across a number of growing business projects.

This role would ideally suit someone currently at college who wants to gain real\-world experience in business, entrepreneurship, AI, marketing, automation and procurement alongside their studies.

I’m looking for someone who is genuinely interested in how modern businesses grow — particularly through digital marketing, social media, AI, automation and technology.

The person I’m looking for will probably already be experimenting with new tools, platforms and ideas in their own time.

I’m not looking for someone who simply knows how to use ChatGPT or post on Instagram. I want someone who enjoys figuring out what actually gets attention, generates leads, improves conversion and helps a business grow.

You don’t need to be a traditional marketer or software developer, but you should be comfortable learning new tools quickly and using AI to help you work faster and smarter.

The hours will be flexible around college, with a mixture of remote working and some in\-person work around Bolton.

Marketing and growth

A major part of the role will be helping me improve how the businesses attract and convert customers.

This could include:

  • Helping manage and improve Google Ads campaigns

  • Researching keywords, search trends and customer intent

  • Reviewing search terms and identifying wasted advertising spend

  • Helping create new adverts, headlines and landing page copy

  • Testing different offers, pricing and marketing messages

  • Researching competitors and understanding how they are advertising

  • Helping improve website conversion rates

  • Building and improving landing pages

  • Creating content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and other platforms

  • Turning business activity into useful social media content

  • Creating short\-form video ideas, hooks and scripts

  • Using AI to generate and test marketing ideas more quickly

  • Helping with local SEO and Google Business Profile activity

  • Tracking leads and understanding where enquiries are coming from

  • Reviewing campaign performance and identifying what is and isn’t working

  • Helping develop new lead\-generation ideas

  • Researching new markets, locations and customer groups
I’m particularly interested in someone who understands that marketing is not just about making things look good.

It’s about generating the right enquiries, testing ideas and understanding what produces a return.

AI, automation and technology

I’m also looking for someone who is genuinely enthusiastic about emerging AI technology.

You don’t need experience with everything below, but familiarity with some of these — or similar tools — would stand out:

  • Cursor

  • Claude Code / OpenAI Codex

  • ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini

  • Replit

  • Lovable / Bolt / v0

  • n8n / Make / Zapier

  • APIs and webhooks

  • GitHub

  • Perplexity

  • AI image, video and content\-generation tools

  • Web scraping and browser automation tools

  • Bot\-building and notification systems

  • New AI agents and automation tools as they emerge
What interests me most is someone who sees a new piece of technology and thinks:

“How could I use this to grow the business, save time or automate something?”

Web scraping, bots and automation

Some projects may involve:

  • Building simple web scrapers to collect useful public information

  • Creating bots that monitor websites, stock, prices or availability

  • Building notification systems when something changes

  • Automating repetitive browser\-based tasks

  • Working with tools such as Playwright, Puppeteer or Selenium

  • Connecting systems using APIs and webhooks

  • Building internal tools to reduce repetitive admin

  • Using AI to speed up research, data collection and analysis
You don’t need to be an experienced coder.

If you can use AI tools to help you build something that works, that interests me far more than whether you can write everything from scratch.

Procurement and commercial research

The role will also include helping with practical business and procurement tasks, such as:

  • Researching products and suppliers

  • Comparing prices, specifications and delivery options

  • Finding alternative suppliers

  • Obtaining quotations

  • Comparing margins and costs

  • Researching new products or services

  • Finding ways to reduce costs without reducing quality

  • Researching potential new business opportunities
Who I’m looking for

I’m much more interested in what you’ve actually done than qualifications.

You might be someone who has:

  • Built a website, app, bot or automation

  • Used Cursor to build something

  • Run or experimented with Google Ads

  • Built a social media account

  • Created TikTok, Instagram or YouTube content

  • Sold products or services online

  • Started a small side hustle

  • Built a landing page

  • Used AI to create or improve marketing campaigns

  • Built a scraper, stock checker or price tracker

  • Connected different platforms using APIs

  • Used n8n, Make or Zapier

  • Researched competitors or markets for your own project

  • Taught yourself a piece of software because you wanted to build something

  • Automated a task because doing it manually annoyed you
You definitely don’t need to have done all of these.

What matters most is that you are resourceful, commercially curious, technically confident and proactive.

I’m looking for someone who can move between marketing and technology comfortably.

One day you might be looking at why a Google Ads campaign is wasting money, another day creating social content, and another day building an automation or researching suppliers.

What you’ll get from the role

You’ll work directly with me across real businesses and projects.

You’ll get hands\-on exposure to:

  • Digital marketing

  • AI and automation

  • Social media

  • Google Ads

  • Business development

  • Procurement

  • Websites and conversion

  • Commercial decision\-making

  • New business launches
You’ll be working on real projects where the work you do could directly generate leads, increase revenue, reduce costs or save time.

I’ll give you increasing freedom and responsibility as you demonstrate what you can do.

For the right person, there is plenty of opportunity for the role to grow as the businesses grow.

How to apply

I’m not particularly interested in a traditional CV for this position.

Instead, send me a short cover letter telling me:

  • Something you’ve built, created, marketed or achieved that you’re proud of.

  • Which AI tools you currently use and what you’ve actually used them for.

  • Tell me about any experience you have with Google Ads, social media, websites, SEO, content creation or digital marketing.

  • Have you ever generated leads, sales, followers, traffic or enquiries for something? Tell me what you did.

  • Have you used Cursor, APIs, automation tools, scrapers or bots? If so, briefly explain what you built.

  • Tell me about something you’ve taught yourself without being asked.

  • If I gave you a business that needed more customers, what are the first things you would look at?

  • Why does this role interest you?
It doesn’t need to be formal and it doesn’t need to be massive.

Around 300–500 words is plenty.

I’d much rather hear about something you’ve actually built, marketed, grown or experimented with than receive a polished two\-page CV.

If you’re the sort of person who enjoys figuring out how to get more customers, how to automate repetitive work and how to use new technology to build something useful, I’d like to hear from you.

Pay: £12\.00\-£14\.00 per hour
