Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated, full-time BSL Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and highly respected special educational needs school based in Leeds.
About the Role This is a full-time, term-time position, perfect for those seeking stability and a great work-life balance. You will be working directly with pupils who rely on British Sign Language as their primary alternative and augmentative form of communication. Your role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between communication and learning, ensuring no child is left behind.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30
- Contract: Full-time, term-time only
- Location: Leeds (LS6 area)

Skills Required & Responsibilities • Communication Support: Utilise your BSL skills to interpret lessons, facilitate communication between pupils and staff, and support language development.
- Learning Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lesson plans, adapting materials to suit the visual and communication needs of the pupils.
- Nurturing Environment: Provide emotional and behavioural support, helping to build pupils confidence and independence.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, speech and language therapists, and parents to review and support individual education plans (IEPs).
- Proven experience or proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is mandatory.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service, or be completely willing to process a new one through Randstad.
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available for this role).
- Ability to provide professional references covering the last two years.
