Bookkeeper – Harrogate

Our client is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team in Harrogate. This is a busy and varied role, providing day-to-day financial support to the business owners and working closely with external accountants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing transactions, supporting credit control, and providing financial information for budgeting and year-end accounts.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who is organised, confident working independently, and able to manage a varied workload.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities


• Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers


• Managing credit control and outstanding payments


• Checking payments and updating internal databases


• Preparing information and documentation for year-end accounts


• Assisting with the preparation of budgets for Director approval


• Providing financial information and reports to external accountants


• Dealing with accounts-related queries


• Supporting the business owner with general financial administration

• Previous bookkeeping experience is essential


• AAT qualification would be advantageous but is not essential


• Strong IT skills and confidence using accounting and database systems


• Excellent communication and organisational skills


• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively


• Strong attention to detail


• Ability to work independently and use initiative


• Reliable, professional, and well organised

• Central Harrogate location with easy access to public transport


• 25 days’ holiday, including 8 bank holidays


• Working hours: 9:00am–5:30pm, Monday to Friday


• One-hour lunch break


• Fully office-based position
