Accounting Practice Bookkeeper (Temp to Perm)

Rate: £14.50 per hour

A well-respected and established Accountancy Practice based across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their busy team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a bookkeeping professional who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio and is looking to join a supportive and professional environment.

As a Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in supporting a range of clients with their day-to-day financial and bookkeeping requirements, ensuring accurate financial records and strong client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions


• Bank reconciliations and cashbook management


• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable


• Posting journals and maintaining accurate financial records


• VAT return preparation and submission


• Credit card and expense reconciliations


• Assisting with month-end bookkeeping activities


• Maintaining client bookkeeping records and resolving discrepancies


• Producing management information and financial reports where required


• Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and answer bookkeeping queries


• Supporting accountants with year-end preparation and audit requirements


• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and procedures

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice environment


• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes


• Experience with Xero and/or QuickBooks (highly desirable)


• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel


• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills


• Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines


• Strong communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach
