Job summary

The role of the Paediatric Booking Officer will be required to provide efficient and effective administrative and booking duties for Yeovil District Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital and wider staff, based at Yeovil District Hospital and occasionally at Wynford House, Lufton, Yeovil.

The team member will also provide reception support to Paediatric Outpatients at Yeovil District Hospital as required and requested by the manager to support service requirements. The post requires flexibility and the ability to provide a wide range of administrative skills using multiple hospital systems.

Main duties, tasks \& skills required
-----------------------------------------

Deal with day to day correspondence, provide a booking service to patients and other parties in a friendly and professional manner.

Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of team members and taking appropriate action where necessary.

Liaise with appropriate personnel in the team to gather and co\-ordinate patient information so this is accessible in a timely manner.

Reception duties in Paediatric Outpatients YDH.

Process referrals and arrange appropriate outpatient appointments.

Participate in team and Trust meetings as requested.

Please note this is a dual place of work at Yeovil District Hospital and at Wynford House, Lufton Way, Yeovil.

The shift pattern is Wednesday 8\.30am \- 4pm, Thursday 8\.30am \-4\.30pm and Friday 8\.30am \- 4pm (30 minute break)

Qualifications

Essential

5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications including English Language Grade A \- C. NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Service or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience.

Experience

Essential

Proven experience of providing customer focussed service. Proven experience in an administrative role. Proficient IT skills including keyboard skills and experience of Microsoft packages. Proven experience of effective communication including with distressed, anxious or angry individuals and able to escalate where appropriate.
