Position Title: Biotech Utilities Operator/ Shift\- CES

Reporting To: Biotech Utilities Supervisor

Main Purpose and Objectives of Position:

The primary responsibility of the Biotech Utility Operator will be to operate equipment in accordance with design parameters, user manuals and current standard operating procedures.

Working closely with Utility Engineers and area Technical Support the Biotech Utility Operator will be a key team player in the Biotech Utilities Department.

  • Understanding of the importance of correctly following procedures in a GMP environment.
Personal Considerations: The Biotech Utility Operator role operates on a 10 day shift pattern, two days and two nights with 6 days off. The job may also involve some non\-scheduled call\-in time to respond to plant emergencies etc. and some scheduled call\-in time to attend training etc

Required Qualifications and Experience;

Minimum; FETAC Level 6 Trade Qualification or Equivalent

Driving License (site road vehicle used)

FAS Safe Pass (or equivalent)

5 years’ industrial experience in a regulated environment.

Language Requirements: Proficient inEnglish

Key Responsibilities: In line with the job outlined above, the following are typically the key tasks that would be expected of the role:

  • Adhere to compliance requirements (safety, quality \& environmental) and ensure any adverse events are communicated/troubleshot appropriately.

  • Be capable of commissioning and validating activities for new pieces of equipment \& processes to the appropriate standards and guidelines, where relevant.

  • The Biotech Utility Operator will be responsible for the following systems and areas: Biotech HVAC, Purified Water Systems, Water for Injection Systems, Liquid Nitrogen System, Glycol Systems, Compressed Air Systems, Cooling Towers, Bulk Chemical Storage Systems and others used for the provision of utilities to the Biotech campus.

  • Managing these above systems with respect to the associated logs \& alarms.

  • Carry out daily sampling and testing duties as assigned on the above listed systems to ensure equipment and systems are in good operating conditions and they are maintained in accordance with local and corporate regulatory requirements.

  • Navigation of the Automated Distributed Control System (DCS).

  • Understand Health, Safety \& Environmental\-regulated environment and application of Health \& Safety/Process Safety standards in order to execute key/critical GMP duties.

  • Monitoring and collecting data on equipment use and performance i.e. trying to anticipate potential equipment reliability problems.

  • Working with Maintenance and Technical Support to respond appropriately to potential utility supply upsets or equipment failure.

  • Contacting the appropriate help if there is a problem or an event (spill/deviation/incident) during processing.

  • Communication to other shifts re the status of the area operations and details of any issues/problems that have occurred at handover.

  • Actively participating in assigned building \& area operations such as safety audits, procedure co\-ordination and improvement projects.

  • Training and qualification on all specified unit operations within the building.

  • Housekeeping activities and ensuring area is kept at an audit readiness standard.

  • First line response and fault finding of equipment failures \& breakdowns.

  • Undertake adhoc tasks or activities as directed by area Technical Support.
