Aspira Education are recruiting a confident and resilient SEN Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a specialist independent school setting supporting pupils aged 6 to 19 with autism and associated behavioural and communication needs.
This is a highly supportive environment combining academic learning with therapeutic provision to help pupils develop independence and achieve their goals.
Hours
40 hours per week
- Monday \- Friday 8\.30am \- 4\.30pm
As an Behaviour Support Assistant you will:
\- Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups across the school day.
\- Help pupils with ASD, anxiety, and communication needs engage in structured learning.
\- Use calm, consistent behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe environment.
\- Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
\- Support emotional regulation using a patient and relational approach.
\- Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.
Every day is different, so flexibility and confidence are key.
About the School
This is within a specialist day school in Stoke\-on\-Trent for pupils aged 6–19 with autism and associated behavioural and communication difficulties.
The school provides a warm, inclusive environment combining mainstream learning with specialist therapeutic support so every pupil can develop, thrive, and move towards independence.

\- Youth work, residential care or mentoring
\- Health \& social care
\- Sports coaching or behavioural support
You don’t need formal teaching qualifications, but you must:
✔ Be calm and confident under pressure
✔ Have strong communication skills
✔ Be patient and resilient
✔ Build rapport quickly
✔ Be consistent with boundaries
Presence and attitude matter more than experience.
All Applicants Must Have
\- The right to work in the UK
\- A fully enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
\- Two recent references
\- A willingness to complete safeguarding training with Aspira
\- Ability to start ASAP
