BD Manager - IP - Global Law Firm
A leading international professional services firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support its Intellectual Property practice. This is a hands-on, strategic role supporting the growth of a global Intellectual Property practice.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, supporting the implementation of business development strategies, client engagement programmes, and market-facing initiatives.
Business Development Strategy
- Develop and implement business development and marketing plans aligned with wider firm objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate activity against strategic goals and return on investment.
- Conduct market, client, competitor, and sector research to inform business development priorities.
- Ensure high-quality delivery of business development initiatives and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Support the execution of practice group business development plans.
- Collaborate with partners and key stakeholders to develop and promote service offerings.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and trends across regions and sectors.
- Contribute to major client pitches, proposals, and capability statements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the profile of the practice and its lawyers.
- Support the delivery of client events, conferences, seminars, sponsorships, and PR initiatives.
- Coordinate directory and award submissions.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of thought leadership content.
- Support firmwide client and sector programmes.
- Analyse client, market, and competitor activity to uncover new business opportunities.
- Build strong relationships across the practice and wider business development function.
You will ideally bring:
- Previous business development experience within a professional services environment, ideally legal services.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market dynamics.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility with senior professionals.
- Strong project management and organisational capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, collaborative, and results-focused approach.
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
