Severn View Hotel is our flagship on the corner of North Quay and Newport Street. It is a Grade II listed Georgian building with 12 individually designed en\-suite rooms, each inspired by Worcester's historic trades. A stone's throw from the Cathedral, the racecourse and County Cricket Ground, it's a hotel with real character and strong local roots.
The Opportunity
Looking to step up into a Bar Manager role with real scope to make it your own? We're looking for someone to take full ownership of the bar at Severn View, leading the team, setting the standards, and delivering the kind of welcome that keeps guests coming back. If you're hands\-on, guest\-focused and ready to lead, we'd love to hear from you.
Hours: Full\-time, 5 days per week. Core days are Wednesday to Sunday, with weekends off on a rotation (to be confirmed).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day\-to\-day running of the bar, ensuring smooth service and a consistently high guest experience
- Lead, supervise and support bar staff, including rota management and task delegation during busy shifts
- Monitor stock levels, manage ordering, and maintain supplier relationships
- Uphold cleanliness, safety and hygiene standards across the bar area at all times
- Change barrels, prepare drinks and operate bar equipment to a high standard
- Act on guest feedback and resolve any service issues promptly and professionally
- Work closely with kitchen staff and the wider management team to coordinate seamless service
- Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, age\-verification procedures and all bar safety requirements
- Support the financial performance of the bar through cost\-conscious stock management and responsible cash handling
- Experience working in a bar, pub or hotel, ideally in a supervisory or management role
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate a team during busy shifts
- Practical bar skills: confident preparing drinks, operating equipment and changing barrels
- Sound knowledge of licensing laws, age\-verification and bar safety requirements
- Stock control experience, including ordering and managing supplier relationships
- A friendly, confident manner and a genuine pride in great customer service
- Good organisational skills, rota management, shift coordination and cash handling
- Clear communication, comfortable working across bar team, kitchen and management
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays; weekend work is required
